Final Day in Rio

Glorita's apartment building

This morning, Glorita's lawyer and tax accountant came over to her house to discuss her financial affairs, so I decided to go for a walk along Copacabana Beach which is a half block from her apartment.

The Brasilian Flag!

Then I stopped at one of the beach bars and ordered a coconut.  The man took a fresh coconut and whacked it with a machete and put a straw in to it for me!

In the afternoon, we went to the Naval Club where Glorita has a membership.  It is a gorgeous place with restaurants, pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, and they even have a full-sized theater.  The Fighter was playing - the one where Christian Bale earned the best supporting actor at the Oscars this year.  We decided to to see it.  I spent more than half the movie covering my eyes because I can't stand to watch boxing!

Afterwards, we went to a beautiful area around the pool where we had a delicious caipirinha.  It was dark by that time, and to our left was the Christ statue on Corcovada all lit up.  It is truly a magnificent sight.

We are off to Paraty today for the Easter weekend.  I probably won't have internet access, but will try to post pictures of the beach when I can.
